What is there to do around Akumal beyond the resort?
Akumal means "place of turtles", and it is known for snorkeling with green sea turtles, with the best turtle season from May to October. Akumal Beach is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The Tulum ruins are roughly a 20–25 minute drive, and Coba is about 45 minutes away. Many day tours pair the ruins with cenote swimming and turtle snorkeling.
